THE ROLE
Managing a team, and reporting into the Womenswear Merchandiser Manager, you will be responsible for the global planning across all omni channel areas within UK, Europe & North America for the womenswer rtw merchandising department. The goal of the planning function is to drive the business (revenue, ebit) through strategic seasonal merchandise planning, controlled inventory management, otb management and insightful commercial analysis.
Applying your entrepreneurial spirit you will take full ownership of your department bringing fresh ideas to the table whilst developing and pushing your team forward. You will have tight control over the management of stock and have a strong background in working with WSSIs, sale forecasting and bta’s to over deliver against the targeted sell through, margin and ebitda.
You will have an affinity for product and a strong commercial awareness to ensure we deliver the strongest range possible by working closely with the buying, trading and wholesale teams.
WHAT WILL I BE DOING?
- Help deliver the planned sales and profitability of the womenswear rtw department by managing and optimising your categories through effective planning and trading
- Planning budgets and presenting sales forecasts and figures to the management team for your categories
- Create a wholesale top line quarterly/ seasonal strategy relating to all kpi’s working collaboratively with the sales team
- Provide historical analysis to develop quarterly / seasonal planning forecasts and regular analysis of category performance to maximise commercial opportunities
- Provide weekly summary of key performance indicators within departments of responsibility and the wider business, relating to sales, stock, profit, versus budget and last year. Monitor wholesale & retail products, sell throughs and work with the regional trading teams to manage company inventory
- Through strategic planning and trading of the department, manage the intake flow into the business to hit monthly forecasts, drive sales and minimise risks Manage and in-season trading of otb to deliver the inventory targets for your categories and the brand
- Category ownership within quarterly buys for full price and outlet: analysing sales, product selection, sales/ST% forecasting and buy planning in line with otb. Working in conjunction with the Buying team to ensure the brand commercially delivers and presenting results to senior team for sign off
- Partner with the sales team in preparation for the market by creating account specific performance recaps and financial overviews to better assess key areas of opportunity and challenges
- Plan continuity for all global functions within your categories. Working closely with trading to monitor performance against forecasts to determine areas of opportunity and risks for sales, planning and merchandising. Track replenishment with production teams to ensure appropriate stock flow
- Create and track off price sales projections working closely with trading teams
- Lead, manage and develop the junior merchandising planning team working closely with peers to help create a best in class merch function
- Lead and be heavily involved in ad-hoc projects across the merchandising team and business and build relationships with cross functional teams
- Develop current systems and processes that are in place and be instrumental in implementing best practices
WHAT SKILLS DO I NEED?
- Previous experience in retail merchandising or planning and wholesale sales
- Excellent analytical/retail maths skills and advanced excel skills required. Basic knowledge of wholesale and strong wssi systems required
- Proven track record of working cross functionally with multiple departments
- An energetic, can do and positive attitude
- Able to manage own priorities, set own work objectives and proactively identify business issues and develop creative solutions
- Flexible and adaptive to changing priorities
- Able to communicate at all levels within the brand in a professional way
- Strong organisational skills with attention to detail and the ability to handle multiple demands with efficiency
- Confidence in suggesting calculated risks
