THE ROLE
Supporting the Global Head of Operations & Profit Protection in safeguarding the company's profits, by identifying and mitigating risks that could lead to systemic, product and financial losses.
This diverse role oversees Stock Loss Prevention strategies, including in-store audits, cash and banking reconciliations, analysing data for patterns of theft and fraud and ensuring that operational processes are efficient and cost-effective. Working side-by-side with the Retail Function and collaborating with various departments to implement measures that prevent stock shrinkage, reduce waste, and maintain integrity and compliance across the business.
Supporting the compliance and development of new business initiatives from concept through to evaluation, embracing digital platforms and future proofing the global business. Supporting our store teams to enable them to deliver the best customer experience and support the brand to achieve our goals.
WHAT WILL I BE DOING?
- Loss Prevention: Develop and implement strategies to reduce theft, fraud, and stock shrinkage, both internally and externally. Delivering the brand’s goal on stock loss of less than 1%. Lead and advise on Investigation and Disciplinary matters
- Leadership: leading the Profit Protection team ensuring that strong professional and personal development plans are in place for all team members, ensuring that everyone knows what they need to do to achieve their goals. Be the “go-to” department for Brand colleagues. Manage a field team and maximise their impact on store visits
- Risk Analysis: Data Mining - Analyse weekly sales and discount data to identify potential internal and external threats. Utilise Stock Audit data and Inventory trends to understand stock vulnerability. Be present and work closely with store operations, to identify potential risks. Utilise the Brand’s Payment Platform to check suspicious transactions & refunds on card payments in stores
- Audit & Compliance: Oversee weekly delivery and stock transfer information and conduct regular audits of stock levels. Work with the Audit team on scheduling stock audits for stores, at the most appropriate times for trading and promotions
- Security Oversight: Monitor store CCTV surveillance systems and ensure effective security protocols are in place. Complete gap analysis and reduce loss in the business through evidence based recommendations. Manage an “always on call” rota system for the store network. Maintain a log of Incidents and responses and work to inform and reduce incidents through improved safety and security procedures to ensure adherence to company policies and legal requirements. Ensure the store network receives formal PP Store Visits to test compliance to Brand Procedures and Policies
- Training & Awareness: Compile and deliver regular training for staff on Loss Prevention best practices, company policies, and how to identify suspicious activities
- Incident Management: Investigate instances of theft, fraud, or operational discrepancies, working with law enforcement and local security communities if necessary. Ensure that store teams are encouraged to report all issues
- Operational Efficiency: Through regular store visits; identify, recommend and implement improvements to store processes and systems to optimize profit margins and minimize waste or errors. Manage the Cash in Transit schedule to ensure a balance of cash holding and cost efficiency is maintained
- Reporting & Analysis: Provide detailed reports to senior management on Profit Protection activities, trends in losses, and the effectiveness of implemented strategies. Also provide a weekly digest in the Trade Report of the previous week’s issues
- New stores: Work with available budgets to supply and install compliant Intruder Alarm, CCTV and EAS solutions
- Vendor Management: Work with suppliers to ensure secure and accurate stock deliveries, cash management and new store openings to minimize risk from external sources
- Collaboration: Work closely with other departments (e.g., operations, People and Culture and finance) to align on strategies for protecting profits across the business. Maintain a relationship with external partners for Crime Prevention such as Oris Forum, Local bids and NWEC, etc
- Flexibility: Be on hand to support colleagues at short notice and also have the capability to work evenings and weekends, as required by the business
WHAT SKILLS DO I NEED FOR THIS ROLE?
- Skilled investigations experience in a formal or retail environment
- Excellent communication, both oral and written. Knowledge of technology based crime prevention / detection methods
- Incident response experience - A calm approach and knowledge of best practices and escalations
- In depth knowledge of security equipment, CCTV, Access Control. Knowledge of crime prevention, surveillance and interviewing techniques
- Conduct the highest quality reviews of internal security and risk management processes
- Ensure the safety and security of staff at all times
- Maintain a risk-based review programme / security risk
- Strong Relationship management skills
- Demonstrate Commercial awareness
- Network with other companies and external parties to keep up to date on changes and new threats
- Working knowledge of Google platform and Microsoft Office - Outlook, Word, Excel and Powerpoint
- Analytical skills
- Willing to challenge and influence at all levels
- Prioritise workload, balances strategic with tactical, coaches others
