We have an exciting new role available to join our Buying team as Junior Buyer for our continuity collections.
The Junior Buyer is responsible for ensuring the smooth, accurate, and timely flow of product into the business. Acting as the operational backbone of the buying team, this role focuses on process control, intake management, and system accuracy. By working closely with the merchandising team, the Junior Buyer ensures our continuity needs (our never out of stock, always available lines) are supported while maintaining clear visibility and control over all intake activity.
The Junior Buyer also supports the Buying Team in managing assigned product categories, ensuring optimal delivery schedules, efficient purchase order management, and strong sell-through performance. This role assists in delivering a profitable and desirable product offering that aligns with market demand and business objectives.
ABOUT THE TEAM
Based at our Shoreditch office the Junior Buyer will report into one of our Buying Managers.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING (KEY RESPONSIBILITIES)
- Partner with the merchandising team to understand our Continuity requirements and ensure delivery scheduling supports trading needs.
- Oversee intake planning and monitor all Continuity trigger dates with accuracy
- Maintain and update systems, line lists, and delivery trackers to ensure data integrity for Continuity
- Spot trading opportunities: Monitor Continuity stock and flag opportunities to the Head of Buying & Buying Manager
- Track, analyse, and report on intake performance, highlighting risks or variances. Providing structured reporting as and when needed
- Cross functionally manage the update of intake amendments across all product types, including duty changes, rescheduling of delivery dates and shipment mode adjustments
- Communicate effectively with buyers, suppliers, and internal teams to align on intake changes. Particularly building strong relationships with suppliers to ensure smooth intake and quick resolution of issues
- Uphold best-in-class administrative standards to drive efficiency and consistency across the team.
- Support the review and negotiation of product costs to optimize profitability and maintain competitive pricing
- Assist in building and nurturing strong, collaborative relationships with vendors
- Daily communication with suppliers to track delivery schedules, monitor production progress, and ensure the accuracy of all data entry related to purchase orders
- Maintain a high level of communication with cross-functional teams within the organization
- Manage product data entry in assortment plans with accuracy, including costs, retail prices, and purchase order details.
- Manage internal systems with accuracy and efficiency to ensure data integrity and smooth operational flow
- Assist in coordinating market preparation and key documents
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and ethical sourcing practices
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR (SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS)
- Previous experience at Junior Buyer or Junior Merchandiser level (or equivalent)
- Demonstrated experience working with intake, delivery schedules, and line management processes
- Exposure to working collaboratively with buying, merchandising, and supply chain functions
- Developing analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and identify trends
- Proficiency in Google Sheets, including the ability to create and manipulate pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, and other functions for reporting and analysis
- Good negotiation skills with the ability to secure favorable terms with suppliers
- Commercial awareness and a keen interest in product, market trends, and consumer behavior
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal, for effective interaction with internal teams and external suppliers
- Highly organized and detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities and critical paths simultaneously
- Problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to overcoming challenges
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, dynamic retail environment
- Good presentation skills with the ability to articulate strategies and insights clearly and persuasively
- Familiarity with relevant buying and inventory management systems
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced and dynamic AllSaints environment
