THE ROLE
As a Senior Designer looking after our Jersey category you will be accountable for creating a commercial collection aligned with our AllSaints aesthetic. Collaborating closely with the wider design team to share knowledge and ideas, with an ability to inspire others and drive newness.
Senior Designers are responsible for coaching and developing our future designers within the team. This position is responsible for maintaining our brand aesthetic, ensuring that our entire range is always on brand and nurtured to create the best products available. You will be a great role model to your team, helping them develop their skills set in their own journey and fostering an environment of creativity.
ABOUT THE TEAM
The Design department is the epicentre of our DNA and influences every part of our brand. We play a key role in setting the tone and direction of the brand visually, commercially and ensure that our customers receive the product they desire.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING (KEY RESPONSIBILITIES)
- Design and develop aspirational and appealing jersey collections for AllSaints, owning the whole process of design from conception to production.
- Undertake trend research and visit trade shows.
- Working closely with the Buying team to ensure the range plan has been met.
- Implement design vision by independently managing the technical design / product development process.
- Working with our in-house atelier to create samples. It’s important you have a hands on approach to design.
- Source together with the product developer, raw materials and trims and ensure all is booked according to the given timelines.
- Issuing of all styles with specs/swatches/layouts etc. with our Product Development team.
- Supervising corrections for samples through production including approval of colours, fabrics hand-feel, washes and bulk production files.
- Building strong relationships with Suppliers and Mills, attending regular meetings with them.
- Travelling to our relevant territories to launch developments.
- Overseeing range presentations, putting together a coherent range that is both commercial, true to brand and trend-led.
- Facilitate the team with the construct of ideas, concepts and designs from initial stage, through to market product launch.
- Keeping track of developments and liaising with suppliers regarding the progress of samples to ensure timely sample development.
- Ability to fit samples with our tech team and ensure that clear comments are issued to our vendors.
- Presenting to Directors for sign-off of concept and colour.
- Lead, motivate and develop more junior members of the team, allowing them space to grow and learn our techniques and standards
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR (SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS)
- A strong commercial background working from conception through to production at an established designer or designer level in Jersey.
- A degree in Fashion Design with a specialist focus on jersey is preferable.
- A natural at building relationships internally and externally at all levels.
- Collaborative in your approach when working in a team.
- Proven experience of working with a technical team to fit all samples through to production.
- Strong commercial awareness and ability to design to price point.
- An entrepreneurial spirit always striving to do better.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Confident drawing by hand, but also proficient with illustrator.
