THE ROLE

We are looking for a shipping manager to join our distribution centre based in Kent. In this role you will be responsible for overseeing global imports and exports and will work closely with our nominated global freight forwarders from the moment goods are handed over by the suppliers to final mile delivery.

You will manage the shipping process from beginning to end, ensuring a smooth and efficient operation. A key part of this role will be updating and maintaining our database and trackers, ensuring data is always up to date and accurate, so attention to detail is key. You will be a strong communicator too, as you will be communicating with other head office teams and external suppliers.

ABOUT THE TEAM

You will be based at our distribution centre in Kent and will report to the shipping manager. With distribution centres based in the UK and Chicago, Illinois - our well connected global operational team play a significant role in our business goals and overall success.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING (KEY RESPONSIBILITIES)

  • Supporting suppliers with any handover issues at the ports of loading
  • Ensuring deliveries for each DC are set up, delivered in full and delivered on time in line with business needs
  • Processing insurance claims and recording shortages
  • Approving freight invoices and reviewing our tariff rates
  • Review freight bookings to ensure stock is moving as needed
  • Checking over import and export declarations to ensure customs entries are correct
  • Ensuring systems such as One World and internal shipping spreadsheets are kept up to date and accurate
  • Reporting of any late shipments to all relevant parties such as production, heads of and directors
  • Overseeing the preparation of shipping docs to ensure these are compliant for customs
  • Work closely with the wholesale department to ensure all wholesale & franchise partner shipments are dispatched
  • Overseeing shipping trackers to ensure all shipments are logged and followed up to point of delivery
  • Overseeing any shipping dept ad hoc queries
  • Day to day management of the shipping department team

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR (SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS)

  • You will have excellent organisational and communication skills
  • Solid knowledge of Excel/Google Sheets
  • Good understand of Excel formulas (v lookups/pivot tables)
  • Strong attention to detail is a must

ABOUT THE LOCATION

Our Distribution Centre is based in Larkfield, Kent. We have approximately 150 employees working acorss Logisitics, Shipping, Warehouse Operations and Store Design. DC Location. Approximately a 4 minute drive from New Hythe rail station.
