A future without exploitation: Not For Sale

A future without exploitation: Not For Sale

Since 2011, we have partnered with Not For Sale, an international non-profit based in San Francisco that works to end exploitation and protect communities worldwide from human trafficking and modern-day slavery. This partnership established our first of many 10-year commitments to the organisation, and together we’re still empowering the lives of thousands of exploited children in Northern Thailand.

Not For Sale CEO David Batstone discovered a human trafficking ring at his local restaurant and began writing a book (the charity’s namesake). While researching, he met Kru Nam, a woman living in Northern Thailand rescuing street children from exploitation, including labour and sex trafficking. David’s fundraising built an entire village for 88 children where they were free to grow and learn surrounded by education and hope.

That’s not where the story ends – in our continued fight against child trafficking and exploitation, we flew out to Thailand in 2018 to celebrate their annual Free2Play movement. These are days set aside for the children to play and enjoy being young and free. The happiness and fun within the village were markers of everyone’s combined efforts. Before long, Galow and MeTa became two of the first stateless individuals to graduate university with the support of Not For Sale. Their incredible transformation from stateless child to academic achiever is inspirational - you can watch their story here

We continue to support Not For Sale’s ground-breaking work by partnering with Z Shoes. Their story began in the heart of the Amazon of Peru. Z Shoes were born thanks to the native community sharing their knowledge and gifting their creation, one that is free of toxic materials, free of sweatshops and unfair labour. As a result, this footwear brings dignity to people and the planet.

Our journey to support Not For Sale and the lives they touch continues. We do this because we care, not because it is fashionable to do so. We believe in helping build a better future for these children, which begins by breaking the cycle of exploitation. Donate today to play your part.
